ALPHA Erosions is a dedicated new-construction landscape firm serving all of Iowa. We are a truly turn-key landscape contractor focused on providing the highest quality, most budget- and schedule-friendly product to our clients and partners.
Riley Marvin’s landscaping career began around 2013, dragging his dad’s push mower around the neighborhood and mowing lawns after school. After a brief hiatus following his junior year at Iowa State, ALPHA Erosions was formed.
Originally specializing in residential projects, the business quickly shifted toward Riley’s vision of becoming a commercial new construction contractor. In the fall of 2019, Sohn Wallace joined as General Superintendent, and the rest is history.
ALPHA Erosions has continued to grow rapidly within its niche of commercial landscape installation, expanding from 4 employees in spring 2019 to nearly 40 heading into the 2023 season.

Core Values:
Andrew has an extensive background in the landscape and turf management business, after being a branch manager for another landscape firm, he joined ALPHA in 2022. Andrew also played college baseball at the University of Oklahoma and in the Texas Rangers organization, and has a degree in horticulture.
Steven joined the ALPHA team as an assistant project manager in 2024. He graduated from Iowa State University with a communications degree. Steven played football at Iowa State for 4 years and went on to play 3 years in the NFL with the Lions, Rams and Packers.
(Pronounced “Shawn”) Sohn has been in the construction and landscape industry for over 35 years, and is in charge of all field operations within the company. A man of his word, if Sohn says we are going to be there, you best believe it.
Colton works as a field superintendent and helps with the day-to-day field operations of the company. Colton has over 10 years of experience in the landscape & construction industry, and attended Iowa State for horticulture.
Connor has been completing project estimating in the office since 2020, Connor is a team player and splits his time in the field to help maintain accurate production rates for our estimating process. Connor attended Graceland university and played soccer.
Nala is a 1 year old golden retriever whose job is to ensure someone is always throwing the ball for her. On her off time she enjoys watching paw patrol and taking a nap anywhere other than her dog bed.
